Medium Term Notes Programme - USD2bi (MTN)
The Medium Term Note Programme (MTN) represents the main tool for debt issuances in the international capital market, whereby notes are placed through Unibanco S/A Grand Cayman Branch or directly through its Head Office.
The MTN Programme is fully capable for issuing pre fixed or floating rate, multi currency notes and also notes indexed to inflation. All the notes issued under the MTN Programme are computed as pure Unibanco - União de Bancos Brasileiros S/A debt.
The MTN Programme has the following ratings assigned (as of May 2008):
(i) Moodys: Baa3 (Investment grade)
(ii) Fitch Ratings: BBB (Investment grade)
(iii) S&P: BBB- (Investment grade)

Subordinated Debt
Subordinated Debt, or Tier II as commonly referenced in the international capital markets, are debts issued by Unibanco - União de Bancos Brasileiros S/A and accounted as Capital for Basel (Basle) capital ratio requirement. Tier II debts payments are subordinated to that of all liabilities.
